Stop the Bleed Community Outreach

Date: Tuesday, May 21

stop the bleedThe APSA Trauma Committee, in partnership with APSNA and Boston Children's Hospital, will provide “Stop the Bleed” training for the Boston Public School nurses during their continuing education time. Fittingly, this day falls between the day of the Boston Marathon bombing, April 15, and National Stop the Bleed Day, May 23. The heart of “Stop the Bleed” training is to equip all people to become immediate responders in the face of life-threatening bleeding. Our APSA Stop the Bleed Instructor Training Video incorporates the story of a school nurse who used this training for a student with major bleeding. School nurses are a crucial group to bring these interventions to injured children, and we are privileged to provide this training to them. We desire all interested APSA members to become “Stop the Bleed” instructors and take this training home to school nurses and others in their communities.
